God wants us well

Yes, God, indeed, wants us well and states it very plainly in His word. There are several other verses, but these two are my personal favorites.
"Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you."
3 John 1:2 (NIV)
"He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness by his wounds you have been healed." 1 Peter 2:24 (NIV)
So, if God wants us well, why do we get sick? Well, my friend, there are many opinions on this subject. Some say sickness is a test of faith, some say it is a means of spiritual transformation. Some even believe it is a consequence of the fall of humanity. Whatever the cause, though I definitely don't believe it's from God, it reminds me of my own human frailty. It humbles me.
My most recent brush with illness was Bronchitis, for the first time in many years. I coughed so hard I pulled a muscle, one which I use just about every time I move. Each cough was painful. coupled with sleeplessness, headaches and trouble breathing.
The good news, I had to allow myself some down time to get better. I used the extra quiet time, in bed, to commune with God in prayer and did some additional Bible study. I don't believe we can ever have too much of either of them. That's why it's been nearly a week since my last post. I'm happy to say, I'm on the mend now and feeling better than ever, both physically and spiritually.
Though I don't believe God gives us bad stuff, I do believe He can use it all for good. He takes what the enemy meant for evil and turns it for good.
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28 (NIV)
"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what it now being done, the saving of many lives." Genesis 50:20 (NIV)
I hope all of my readers have an awesome, safe and healthy day full of blessings.
In Christ, Faith
