Pride Cometh Before the Fall

There are so many scriptures written about pride. Of all the seven deadly sins, this is the one I dislike the most and the one I have to constantly fight (with the help of the Holy Spirit & my loving friends In Christ) to keep in check.

It's the sin that took satan down. And when I say down, I mean way down. He was an angel. Our Father booted him out of Heaven when he wanted to be equal to Him. As my mom used to say, "He got too big for his britches!"

For me, anyway, pride usually rears its ugly head when I least expect it. Our enemy, little "d", is the master of lies. His very name contains the word evil. He's very devious. He "walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8 NKJV) If I'm not vigilant, he will try to deceive me, or tempt me with worldly things.

If I'm not careful, I can get "too big for my britches". I must remember that without Him I am nothing. "I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I n them bears much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:5 (NIV) I must also keep in mind that "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways." declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)

I hope all who have visited here are having a blessed day today.

Proverbs 16:18 (NIV)

"Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall."
